Cleaning intake manifold bores? 200 1981

Anybody have a recommendation for a tool to clean the intake manifold bores and the corresponding bores on the head? Long story, but I've got my intake off in relation to another problem and found probably close to 1/8 or 1/4 inch of black, hard, oily, baked on GUNK coating the entire inner surfaces of the manifold and the bores where the injectors sit. Having some luck with high powered carb cleaner (the yellow stinky liquid that comes in a paint can) and a toothbrush, but at that rate I'll be there 'til spring.

A better tool, a better solvent, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, bricksters.
