speedo needle stopped working, but odometer working, ?? 700 1992

Hi fellow bricksters,

The speedometer needle on my '92 745 stopped working all of a sudden, but odometer still moving. It used to stop working for a few minutes, on and off, and then it worked fine again. Does this sound like the speed sensor went out,loose connection, etc. How do I test it the sensor? Any other things I should be checking?

Any help is appreciated.
