better milage from 745T?? 3:31 rear end???

I was wondering if I could swap rear ends or change gears to 3:31 in my '86 745T, I travel 5 to 6 thousand miles a month and currently getting around 18MPG. Normal driving in the 80-85 MPH range on the freeways. Any thoughts.
