How to adjust timing on 88' 745 turbo 700

This is a repost as I accidentily put it in the wrong forum. Anyways, I couldn't find it in the faq, either that or i'm blind :) I want to know how to check and set the timing. A friend from work is going to bring his timing light. I know from the sticker under the hood it says 12 degrees. Do you guys have it set at any other position for more power? If so, at about how many degrees do you have it set to? THanks!
