Hi all and I would like to thank the regulars, Dick, Chris, and Bill for all their help and replies. Hopefully this will be the last of this novel. I should have been a little more savvy when I got my salvage engine and made sure it was from a '88 vehicle- - but I did not -- so now I'm earning my wings. Let me give you the background on this project:
Summer: 1. My son overheated my '88 740 Non-turbo.
2. I pulled the engine to find the head warped and a hunk of piston depostited on the head - - I determine it's SHOT.
3. Found a yard in Bloomington, IL that had a B230F from a '89 Volvo and purchased it.
4. Put the engine in stand and began to replace seals, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, etc.--and thought I was ready for re-installation to the '88 740 chasiss.
5. In preparing I read as much on this site as I could and discerned that I might have other probems in connecting the sensors.
HERE IS WHAT I HAVE ARRIVED AT FROM YOUR ADVICE:
A. Swap the following items from the '88 engine:
1. Wiring harness
2. LH Jetronic system
3. Distributor with hall sensor
4. Temp Sensor in block
5. Flywheel
Anything else? Commentaries would be greatly appreciated.
PS - Can I screw up my distributor doing this? Thanks
