heat/ac control 200

Today, I pulled the instrument panel in order to jump the rheostat, as none of the dash lights worked (problem solved).
This is the first time that I had inspected this wiring since I bought the car and the blower motor has never worked. I noticed that one of the wires that goes to the AC level switch (min-max) had fallen off or been detached. I attached this wire and now when I turn the blower knob to 1-2-3, I can hear a click sound that I never heard before.
What's clicking? and what is not happening as a result of this clicking?
I'm probably still going to have to replace the motor. If anyone has any pointers that might save me from doing so, I wouldn't mind at all :)
Thanks, Brian
