tie rod end question 200 1990

I was trying to tighten the tie rod locknut. I tried to hold the tie rod end stationary but I gues I did not do the job right so it rotated anyways. Is that a probelm?
I replaced the tie rod about 4 to 5 mths ago but I never took the car in for alignment and now in those 4 mths my front tires are really worn out on the outer edges. So bad I am starting to see the threads on them.
