Hey everybody. I have an 86 745ti and had alot of problems getting it started. Once I got it started it would idle pretty high so I cleaned the idle control valve out with carb cleaner which was really gunked up. I put it back on, replaced both hoses, and started up the car. For the first time, the car started pretty easily, but after a few seconds, the car jumped up to 2500rpm and would not go back down even after feathering the throttle. I unplugged the idle control valve and it went down to about 1500rpm for a minute but then jumped right back up to 2500. Trying to adjust the idle knob did nothing at all. I haven't had the guts to take the throttle body off yet, but I did shoot a little carb cleaner into the idle adjust hole where the knob goes and a little into the throttle body. Should I take the throttle body off and clean that too? Will that create such a high idle? And, finally, is it possible the idle control valve is bad? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me - Tim
