Well, after 12,000 (105,000 to 117,000) miles of reliable service, the Volvo is finally screwed up. Here is what has happened. I noticed that in the morning and if it had been sitting in the rain, it would miss until it warmed up. It was still driveable however. So, saturday I changed the plugs and put in Platinum 2's. Put off changing the distributor cap until I could find a bosch cap. Ran great, Idled better than before on Saturday all night (about 70 miles of traveling). Didn't move it all day Sunday. Today I go out to hit the key and it backfires on the first crank. after I had popped the hood, I could see it spouting smoke out of the intake when it seemed to backfire. (my Dad thinks it is crossfiring because of the moisture, however it has not gone away like it used to with the rain) It will still start and run alright when reved (misses noticeably however) but it will not idle very often. You can play with it enough to get it to idle and it does so very very roughly and misses alot. Also, a pretty loud hiss can be heard as it is idling. When the comes down from the about 3k RPM rev after startup, as it starts to plummet to a stall at around 900-1000 RPM you can hear an audible click (Idle control motor) but it still stalls usually. Right now it is undriveable and with work and school, I need to get it working again. I know this rambles quite a bit, but all input will be appreciated.
