I just did an (poor man's) overhaul and got it to run now billowing clouds of anti freeze smelling smoke (it is water vapor). Before i go back to the drawing board does any one have a suggestion to isolate the source of the lead i.e. the turbo seal leaking coolant? or maybe some other source of entry. I am not thinking clearly cuz I am scarred it might be a hair line crack in the block that was missed. I did not totaly rebuild engine , was a good used engine.Reason for it being junked was a slight engine fire after a wreck. So was not declaired due to engine probs.Yes it may be the head gasket,Had the head done at Napa; milled and new seals. But before i pull it just wanted a second opinion. Please any help appriciated.>>>>CLUES: No water in oil. plugs not soaked in anti-freeze, removed all 4 plugs and had son crank it over to see if anti freeze blew out of cylinders; none present. We though maybe water in cat from cleaning engine compartment out before engine went in ..but it really smells like burned anti- freeze (boy I hate that smell). No anti-freeze blowing into intake side ..lots of vapor smoke ...big clouds!
