engine stalls when cold 200

I've a 1984 245DL with a B23 engine with automatic transmission. This engine was converted to a solex carburettor. Since the weather has started to be cooler, when i start the car i have to let it idle 3-4 minutes before i put it into gear otherwise it stalls. Once the car has warmed up the problem does not occur. Also during the summer it worked fine. I've only had the car since June so i have no experience with solex units in colder weather. Any help would be appreciated.
