compressor wasted 200 1980

THE AC COMPRESSOR RECENTLY ATTEMPTED TO SELF DESTRUCT(AC NOT WORKING ANYWAY)....LOTS OF AWFUL NOISES AND LOTS OF SMOKE FROM THE BELT.. ON i95 YET!! CUT THE BELT TO GET HOME,BUT NATURALLY WITH NO POWER STEERING , SINCE THE COMRESSOR PULLEY ALSO DRIVES THE BELT THAT RUNS THE POWER STEERING UNIT!! MY QUESTION IS,CAN I SOMEHOW BYPASS THE COMPRESSOR TO RUN THE PS OR MUST I REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR?? (MAYBE A DOUBLE PULLEY ON THE PS TO LINE UP WITH THE CRANK PULLEY) COMMENTS OR ENCOURAGEMENT?? AS ALWAYS THANX IN ADVANCE!
