installing oem electric primary fan from later rwd 7 or 9 series on '89 740 turbo?

I was looking under the hood of an '94 940 turbo and noticed it had an oem electric primary fan,now I know that the radiator is different it appears larger in diameter but has anyone adapted this set-up to an '89 turbo 740?I also noticed that the intercooler has been pushed foward out of sight to allow more room between the fan and the waterpump, the setup is quiet;right now I run a straight blade fan it moves enough air but is noisey and the curved blade on the 940 is quiet and has a full shroud, someone at one recycle yard said it would fit but it sure looks tight, any insight greatly appreciated.
