Tailgate Pistons 200

Colder weather is coming in Canada...and the same as last year when the cooler weather starts, my tailgate pistons don't stay up when I first open the rear door. After a couple of tries it works fine. Not trusting it too much. In the warm weather they work fine.

Are they shot? Or is there something that can be done to repair them.
