I'm looking to buy the following 93 964 from a local dealer and would appreciate any advice from the group. I have owned a 93 965 since 1996 and have done all the maintenance for the past 100k miles.
The particulars:
93 960 4 door sedan
Black
136000 miles
$4300
As a condition of sale the dealer is going to:
1. Compound & polish the hood-look like it was in a sand storm:!
2. Repair the sunroof mechanism-jumped the track when I opened it during the first test drive.
3. Repair the shiftlock mechanism.
4. Replace the sparkplugs
5. Replace the battery.
They performed the following service within the past 6 months:
State Inspection
Rear brake pads & rotors
Front brake pads
Front end alignment
Oil change
They are not willing to perform the following service & repair items which were due at 120k miles or brought to their attention:
PCV/flame guard replacement
Air cleaner replacement
Engine auxilary belts
Engine timing belt
Brake fluid replacement
Antifreeze replacemment
Repair passenger side rear fender trim
Reapir driver side heated seat
Repair lower windshield trim
Replace windshield surround trim
Repalce passsenger door speaker grille
Repair a leaking A/C evaporator-dealer knocked $700 off the price when we fouind this.
With the exception of the A/C evaporator, I've done all of these repairs already to my existing 965.
The exterior is in decent shape for the age and mileage. Shiny paint- no major dings/damage.
The interior seats show some pretty good wear. PO had a dog and his nails left long scratches in the back seat leather.
There is some sort of aftermarket bass box stereos thing in the trunk with a mondo cable connected to the battery. I think this may go.
I plan to put it on a hoist for an undercarriage inspection this Friday.
Is there anything special other than FAQ items I should look for??
Comments on the price etc??
TIA.
