122 Brake booster rebuild tips or retro-fit another etc ? 120-130

My 1967 122 wagon brake booster is shot and I bypassed it but would like some power assisted braking . I actually found a rebuild kit a while back and saved it but don't have a any instructions an I can figure out how to remove them "control pston "- according to my Haynes manual . I have also heard you retrofit others but I don't have any good info . Can anyone please advise ? -thanks
