What if I took the catalytic converter out and put a straight pipe in? 700

I'm looking for cheap ways of getting power out of my Volvo 745 turbo (1988). What if I were to take out the catalytic converter (which is brand spanking new) and put in a straight pipe? Would that help get me a bit more power since there is no back pressure? If so, do you guys know of anyone who makes a replacement straight pipe that would fit in the factory cat. place?
