This is another question I have asked before but didn't give enough etail for an answer that describes my problem. At some point in the not so distant past, an up arrow started appearing every time I put the clutch in. It didn't do this when I first bought my 87 245dl with a 5-speed, but it does it now. It's only on when the clutch is in, the car could be in neutral, 5th, or any gear in between and that up arrow is lit. Take my foot off the clutch and it's gone.

Since I first asked this question I have had to remove my carpet for leak issues and noticed that the back edge of the hole for the shifter was munched. I don't know if this is a symptom of the accident that this thing was in that was not reported by carfax or from a tranny swap. If a tranny swap was done, would that explain the lite?
