My bride-to-be recently backed into my 1968 1800 with her 89 240, and the 240 won. We ended up with the headlight assembly crushed and pushed into the fender a couple of inches, the wheelwell bowed out about four inches, a bent bumper, and a torn and crushed valence panel next to the grill. The grill came out fine, but the surround will need to be re-chromed. The car is driveable if you only have to turn right.
I am starting to deal with the insurance company now and need a little advice. I know that the bodies are welded (no bolt together fenders) so bolting on a new front end is out of the question. So it is kind of looking like either the car will be totaled (I will buy it back and start looking for another body donor) or it will go to an old-style body shop for some actual repair. How has everyone else handled front-end repair, and how did it turn out?
