Hello. I'm having some very unexpected problems recently with my 1993 245's automatic transmission. The other day I was driving about 35mph not accelerating and the car seemed to have gone into neutral, yet the shifter was in Drive. I gently coasted to the side of the road and called for assistance. My dad came and discovered a very small spot of transmission fluid under the back right rear of the car, slightly discolored, but not burnt. I can start the vehicle, and shift through the gears, but the car goes nowhere. However, in Park, the car doesn't drive, and when taken out of Park, you can hear the engine change "speeds" as it would normally do when shifting out of Park. The fluid level is fine in the car, but it still does the same thing. I had it towed to my local shop, and they say I need a new transmission.(?) I don't see how this is possible because its never had ANY transmission problems (159,000 miles). If you would happen to know anything about this that could prevent me from having to shell out a TON of money (that I don't even have) to have the transmission replaced or know how much a repair like this will cost IF it can be repair without having to be replaced, please reply. All reponses are appreciated! Thanks for reading.
