drilling holes in the floor 200

i think in order to do somthing clever i did something stupid.
one of the bolts for the drivers seat fell into the chassis (sp?)
cavity so i drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole in the underbody to
help fish it out with a magnet....

anyway how stupid was this and how should i seal it up?

i'm thinking a plastic cap/cup or rubber stopper
and some waterproof sealant.
i don't have the tools or experience to weld something on.
