Cutting off the heat sheild 200 1989

Last year I fixed my heat sheild rattle with a few sheet metal screws, but now the rattle's back and worse than ever. I want to cut it off. What kind of damage could I do if I mess up? I don't park in tall grass, and it's not against the law here to cut it off. Also, what can I use? Angle grinder? Dremel? Skillsaw?
