I'm repeating a query of mine from a few weeks ago since it went unanswered. (Maybe I forgot my deodorant that day?)
The 'new' '91 244 we got for the younger generation has no 'detents' on the auto trans shift lever. You can pull it straight out of park and thru all positions without needing to use the release button in the shifter knob. That doesn't bother me so much as the possibility of going from any gear back into park if the car is moving. My son is fine with this, but - alas! Mom thinks the car is 'cute' - likes it better than her 855 - and drives it whenever it's around, and SHE's the one likely to do something, uh, less than wonderful. I really want to restore that damage-preventing feature.
So how do I disassemble this beast, and what am I looking for? Broken parts? Missing parts?
