Windsheild Trim Q 700

I have a question about the trim around my windshield on my '88 740 wagon. The trim around the windshield has been loose for a while now, every once in a while getting humming while on the highway (pretty standard fair for these cars). I got my windshield replaced a couple months ago, and I was hoping they would fix the problem when they did the windshield. Unfortunately I wasn't that lucky... What actually holds these pieces on? Can anyone give any tips on how to stick em down without ruining them? They look like one of those parts thats easy to take off, and easy to break in the process...

On a related note, I need to take off the intake cowl piece in front of the windshield to clean out the intake area and replace the grate under the fresh air grill. Does the windshield trim need to be taken off to take this piece off?

Thanks for any tips on this stuff, hopefully I can pull it off without too much damage :)
