Pain in the taillights 140-160 1973

The tail lights on my wagon have always been a little eccentric. Now it's clear the short circuits have won.

At this point, when the ignition is on, three random lights (two in one assembly and one in the other) stay on constantly. Using the turn signal lights up the proper bulb, then another in the same assembly. They blink like a railroad crossing.

Of course, these symptoms could change without notice.

Where to start with this mess? Are the shorts likely to be in the light assembly itself or somewhere in the bowels of the wiring? What's the best way to start hunting?

After this, I've got to resuscitate the horn. Turns out North Carolina has a safety inspection.

I hate electricity.
