How does one prep a newly purchased diesel? 200

Greetings, fellow oil burners! Am about to pull the trigger on an early '80's 244 diesel from a local resident who has 'graduated' to a Taurus wagon (the fool). I've owned a Mercedes diesel a lifetime ago and just kinda like the diesel 'experience.' As a reminder, can the owners out there give me a list of what's needed to get the engine back to square one once I get it home? Like, what needs to be cleaned, changed, lubricated, tightened, loosened, run through the injection system, and generally necessary to 'start over.' I always give my purchases a complete 'go through' so as to make myself think I'm starting fresh (even though I'm not....but it makes me feel good, anyway) but I forgot what to do with the diesel. I did note that the exhaust pipe has pretty much corroded away at the back of the car, taking some of the sheet metal with it... not too bad, but a reminder as to how corrosive the exhaust really is when mixed with water. I'll have to reroute that...but any help the the oilbricksters out there can give would be much appreciated. As always, thanks in advance for your help.
