I just ordered a new cam for my car, and am looking at all the things required to install the new cam. Replacing the timing belt looks like a bitch... you have to remove all the stuff to do it.... and get everything to TDC... AHH!!
At this time, I will be changing to the amsoil that i just got in the mail, and if my engine doesn't leak oil now.. what are my chances that it will delevop a leak?
What have I gotten myself into? How hard will it be for me to install the cam, adjust the shims, put in new cam seals, and install new timing belt?
This is coming from someone who has never replaced brake pads or a timing belt in there life... but oddly enough... hsa replaced a heater core in a 80 244 last fall. What tools do I need for this job? I just got in the mail my bent feeler gauge, and a micrometer. Do I just need a torque wrench and a shim release tool now, or is there more? Please email me at "runabout4fun@yahoo.com" with some info. I am really good with electronics (can fix ANYTHING with a circuit board in it) and taking things apart(hence the heater core job).. but get shivers down my spine when I think about taking apart the heart of my baby :)
