Radiator Sensor or Not 700 1989

About a year ago I had a shop replace my plastic radiator as it had cracked. Recently I pulled up to a restaurant and coolant started pouring out. Popped the hood and the source of the leak was a 1 inch hole on the upper psg side of the radiator.

There was a rubber grommet in the hole but no plug. I also noticed two wires laying down by the battery tray not attached to anything.

I called the dealer to see if I needed a plug or some sort of sensor. He asked if my temperature gauge was working and I said yes. He said that I probably needed just a plug.

He said that it was a temperature sensor and if I had one on the engine I did not need one on the radiator. I am not real sure he knew what he was talking about.

I have read some of the boards that mention an auxilary fan triggered by a radiator sensor.

Does anyone know what a 1989 740 GL (Not a turbo) comes with, I hate spending over $50 for a sensor I do not need, when a $4 plug will do.

Thanks
