Ok, i have a few problems with the car I just bought. The car is a 87 740ti with 216k but still running great. It wa a one owner car and I bought it from the volvo dealer he traded it in to. When accelerating hard there is vibration in the drivetrain somehwere, feels like the wheels. The original owner said it has been doing this since it had 20k miles on it and had the U-joints replaced three times under warranty never solving the problem. The last U-joint replacemnt was at 70k when the warranty expired and he says it has been doing it since then and he just didnt worry about it since. I really dont feel this is a prolem that NEEDS to be fixed if it has been doing it for this long but if it is something simple I am all for getting it done. Secondly I drove the car around all day yesterday and came home and parked it outside. This morning I get in the car to start it, starts fine but a headlight goes out which wasnt out last night. Also the dash lights ont come on and none of the gauges work, also the light indicating the high beams are on stays lit constantly as do the turn signal indicators but not blinking. Half way on the 20 minute drive to school with no dash lights and one headlight the dash lights come back on. The weirdest part of all of this is that since i bought the car last week the temp gauge never worked and i assumed it was a bad gauge or sensor and was t have it fixed this week BUT when all of the gauges and lights went out the temp gauge then started working... and when the other lights and gauges came back on... guess what the temp gauge isnt working again. Can someone PLEASE give me any advice on what in the world this could be? My dad who is pretty good with cars beleives it might be a short or something in the wiring harness, and since it was cold and damp last night it shorted out but once the car and engine got warm this morning it came back on. Either way I need to get all of this fixed. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
