Squeeeeeeling turbo! 1989 740 700 1989

When the turbo kicks in it squeels as if its going to blow up. Needless to say, I stopped driving the little jewel. It has about 94K on it. Is the turbo rebuildable? If so, is there a kit available? Do I have to get a rebuilt/new turbo. If so, should I remortgage my home?

Any advise would be appreciated.
