I'm installing new strut inserts (Boge Turbo) in my trusty 940 this weekend. I've done this on 240 cars using the standard procedure: disconnect strut rod from top bearing, compress spring and tilt strut assembly out of wheel well to remove insert. However, some shop manuals (Haynes) suggest a more conventional approach to the 900 cars: disconnect lower ball joint, top bearing and remove strut assembly from car. In the 700/900 FAQs, one brickster reported doing 700 struts using the 240 procedure. Has anyone else had luck doing it this way on a 900? The advantage I see in the tilt-it-out-the-wheel well approach is that you avoid separating the ball joint. The ball joints in my car are in good shape and those fork-type tools tend to destroy the parts.
