Speedometer quit and the dash lights have gone out. Help! 200 1985

Greetings and good morning.

The speedometer on my 85 240T quit working yesterday, dand last night, I noticed that none of the dash lights (that illuminate the gauges)are working either.

Could these problems be related or is it just coincidence that the two decided to bite the dust at the same time?

Any suggestions to solve these issues would be appreciated.
