Hello all,

I am about to get my gearbox reconditionned, since I've been told that the noisy whine in 2nd, and 3rd would indicate worn bearings etc. I wanted the benefit of your experience to tell me if there are other things I should usefully get done while this is out, perhaps routine servicing/upgrading which one might wait to do until the car's in the air.

I can think of obvious things like checking the gearbox oil (are we still agreed that 20w/50w is the best for overdrives?)and maybe changing the rear oil-seal and housing to neoprene ones, but deeper into the technicalities I dare not go...without your guidance.
