Hay as a new owner of a 88' 245 with 74k miles on it ,we decided to go to a volvo meet last weekend. We meet a subculture of volvo owners that had so much great advice for us,I would recommend going to a volvo meet if given the chance too anyone, not to mention some great parts deals you may come across from fellow volvo crazee's. And to see all those nice little restored 1800's was a blast, yes I had 1800 envy. It's the car "The Saint" drove around on that 1960's TV show played by Roger Moore,as a kid I always wondered just who made that cool car.
Here's a tip we picked up for our fishtank yellow headlight's....use acetone to clean the yellow off the lenses just make sure u apply the acetone/or nail polish remover with acetone to a rag 1st and not to the lense as you don't want to get any on the plastic/rubber parts on your vehicle. This will clear up the headlamps quite dramatically.
Thanx for the input on a fine abrasive compound, which I tried with very little obvious effect. I think if you use the nail polish remover acetone(less concentrated) in a moderate way and clean thouroughy after the application which I was told to do you won't have any problems. I followed up with a plastic protectant.
