'85 240 and '86 740 rear ends the same???????

Tired of runnng out of gas. (No working speedo or gas sensor as per my tests.)
I Am looking to pull a rear diff cover and Speedo sensor off an '85 240 to swap with my '86 740 as one unit. Does anyone know if these cars have Identcal rear Diffs and covers and sensors???? Is there a cross reference somewhere??
Thanx, this would greatly increase my choice of wrecks to choose from.
