I've had a '90 700 for a couple of years now, and I've formed a conclusion about the taillights. They represent the beginning of the slippery slope that has ended with the unserviceable, FWD, fashion-conscious, and really decadent (in the technical sense of the term) recent alphabet soup of Volvos now released on a product cycle apparently measured in months.

To wit, the '90 700 taillights with their attenuated, horizontally squashed reflectors don't work nearly as well for their intended role as signaling devices as the earlier ones that were ubiquitous in the 200 and 700 series. Is there any reason why I couldn't or shouldn't get a pair from a '89 700 and swap 'em into the '90? The present ones in my '90 are terminally weathered so they need to be replaced.
