'GRINDING' VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING - no clues - Help 900 1994

Very noticeable "grinding" kind of vibration when braking. Both grinding sensation and vibration seem worse as the car approaches stopping (lower speeds). Also, occasional slight steering wheel vibration when starting off in the morning.

Brake rotors are new (~1Kmis) all around, as are pads. Calipers have all been checked and all guide pins are free and otherwise the brakes are working well. Rotors are wearing evenly and smoothly.

Front wheels spin freely when raised off the ground. Rotors turn by hand normally and there is no noise or other indication that front wheel bearings are worn.

Front left sway bar linkage lower bushing is definitely shot, other suspension bushings may be close (150 Kmis). Could this be the cause?

Thanks.
