940 purchase in Ohio 900 1991

Need some advice. I'm a happy owner of an '87 245 dl and looking for another volvo for my wife. Looked at a '91 940 GLE today. Has 108k miles, seems in pretty good shape and drove well. Any thoughts on 940 series? This one has the B234 engine. Good engine? What tranny does it have?

The folks are asking $5000 for this car. Didn't find any rust, teal paint has a few surface scratches and sma;; dent in door but looks ok. Mechanically pretty good. timing belt, shaft and ac belts and water pump were replaced at 96,5k. brakes & tires at 93k. Has a bit of shimmey at about 45mph but brakes don't pull and keeps a straight path when not holding steering. Exhaust looks pretty new.

Tan interior in good shape except front leather seats are cracked. Especially drivers from sun fading and cracking more severe than pass. side. Would like to replace/repair eventually to look nice but how expensive is this to do? Little discoloration of dash as well.

Does not have alloys. Tires are just ok.

My confusion is that KBB lists this car at $4525 in good conditon. Edmonds clean rating is at $3180 from private party and the NADA retail is $6425. Pretty wide range. Why? I thought of offering $3500-$4000 and see what happens. Fair price?

How do the 940's stack up against the 700 and 200 series? Looked at an 850 in great shape but leery after all I've read here and advice from others.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
John
