Carb cleaner + crumbly wires = my 740 is on fire. 700

I read a FAQ stating that all that is needed to clean the throttlebody is to remove the air intake hose and spray some carb cleaner just past the butterfly and wipe out any grunge. Well, when the carb Cleaner ran back out it all dripped onto my Bare (damn harnesses) soleniod wire and battery cable and Caboom!!!! Great balls of fire. The bithday cake method wasn't working, so I beat at it with a rag.
Fortunately the cab cleaner burnt itself out quickly. With no damage to anything. Except my heart. I did however notice That here was a large hose nipple on the back side of the throttle body that had nothing attached to it, allowing unmetered air to enter the TB. I also found a hose down by the block that had a broken T where a hose had been. The other side of this T'd vac hose runs up to the top of the Manifold to a Vac pipe. Does the other side of the T Go to this nipple on the TB?

singed but alive....
