94 940 gascap 900

When I bought my 94 945 a few months ago it came with a Volvo black gascap with a long serpent like retainer strap attached. However, the end is loose and looks like it should attach somewhere. Anybody know where? I saw a couple of 94's on ebay and they show the standard gas cap with the holder clip on the inside of the gas cap door. I checked with Volvo today and the cap they show is like what I already have. Is this a replacement cap?
