Good afternoon,
Have a puzzler concerning headlight wiring on '83 245 w/ 4 rectangular sealed beam setup.
Started car coupla daze ago and bulb sensor aka light out was on. Turned out right front "position"/marker light was out as well as low beam headlamp on same side.
Pulled back turnsignal lever to get high beams, all 4 headlamps on. Click, back to low beams, still no right side.
Problems not related other than the car was hit up front s.time in the past, as r.f. fender is cheesier than left and the marker/turn fixture has never been perfect fit. Work seems to have been done at dealer or by someone who knew what they were doing, though, no splices in wiring harnesses, looks clean.
Position light prob was loose fit of bulb in holder, rivet in fixture is loosing it, shimmed it out w/a piece of copper temporarily. French are better at wine, cheese, fast trains....
Headlight prob was in a 2 wire connector w/ red and blueish green wires, the latter had broken at the spade end inside the connector.
Simple repair but I'd like to understand how the 4 beams are wired such that one has "all" or nothing. Is this some Swedish peculiarity?
I have been meaning to photocopy those wiring diagram pages in Haynes manual, blow em up, tape em all together and paste up on "office" wall for enlightenment.
Cheers,
Frank
