I got the timing belt replaced by an independent garage this spring, and have driven 3,000 km since (1,900 mi). The garage never said anything about adjusting the tension after a while, neither does the Haynes book as far as I can see.
The other day I got my Bentley Bible (thanks, Amazon), in where it says that after a replacement, tension should be adjusted after 1,000 km.
As mine is an interference engine, I want to be absolutely certain I got the procedure right:
Pop the rubber cover, insert a 17 mm socket, loosen then tighten the nut.
Is it really this simple? No risks involved?
Thanks,
Erling.
