Quick question. I remember reading but couldn't find in the Archives.

Obviously when replacing the Thermostat you should put the new one in the way the old came out. ie Bi-metal down into the engine block. But I remember reading something about the small hole in the top facing a certain direction. Am I right? and what is the direction of this little bypass hole?
