To Turn Or Not To Turn? 900 1996

Some say not to turn volvo rotors. Time for new front pads on the 960. Car does not shutter or vibrate during braking but a groove has worn where the pads seat leaving a slight lip at edge of rotor. Just throw a new set of pads on, turn the rotors first, or buy new rotors? Any suggestions?
