I figured out my no-spark problem, which is in the connection to the ignition control unit. It is a 10-hole plastic plug that mates with the pins in the control unit. I can get it to run if I wedge popsicle sticks between the connector and the housing around the pins on the control unit, but no matter how much I clean and try to tighten up the holes that the pins go into, without applying pressure, either manually or with the popsicle sticks, it won't keep running, even with lots of dialectric grease in there. There are some small metal sleeves around the pins on the control unit. ( I noticed that my spare control unit is missing most of them) Are these supposed to be in the plastic connector and did they get stuck on the pins when I pulled it off? Is there any way to fix this other than buying a whole iginition harness? The Haynes manual says that this connector should only be used once and the whole harness has to be replaced if it is disconnected, but most everyone else talks about swapping out control units without mentioning replacing the connector. If I get a connector from a junkyard and splice it in, am I likely to run into the same problem or is this unusual? Thanks to all who have helped me narrow down this problem. Karin
