I've always wondered what the big mystery "can" on the back of some 940 heads is. It is there in place of the distributors on the cars that have side-mount distributors, like 240s.
That dumb can had me wondering. It's empty, so why is it there?
This weekend, the question got answered.
It is there to catch the !@#$%& camshaft PLUG that blew out of the back of the head! Without that thing, the plug would've been in the middle of the street somewhere. Not in this case; it was lying right there in the can.
Next question: Anyone want to guess what I did yesterday? (Hint: involves making aluminum piece to hold plug in head.)
