No Spark 740 HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 700 1988

I'm at my witts end with this car, I am fixig it for my friend. I just laid out $60= for a new coil, then $245.00 for a rebuilt distributer, still no spark!.
I noticed above the brake a computer?
Then another in the pass side kick panel.
I do have 12v at the coil.
PLEASE GIVE ME POINTS BACK :-)
where else can I look for this problem.
Any help is appreciated.
