Our recently purchased 745 has about 135 k miles on it. The previous owner had it serviced by an independant Volvo garage and maintenance seemed up to date. He says ( and I believe him ) that the water pump was replaced within the last year but he couldn't remember if the timing belt had been too. All the belts look good and a visual inspection of the timing belt revealed no obvious signs of wear ( not too many data points to reference however). Is it reasonable to assume that a Volvo mechanic would replace the timing belt while he was in there if it was getting close to the change interval?
