Volvo Brake Pads 200 1986

Is it totaly necessary to replace my old brake pads with the expensive Volvo ones? The estimate is 257.00 vs. 91.00 for some generic brand. I'm not comfortable with doing this kind of work my self and my pockets are pretty empty right now. Thanks!
