Greetings All!!!
First, let me thank Jerry Warren, Chris Ulrich, and sly old
Walrus for responding to my heater hose question of a few months
ago. The result??? I learned that if a U.S. dealer tells you
that certain 140/164 parts are NLA . . . go north, young man!!!
Docksteader Volvo in Vancouver, B.C. seems able to obtain many
older items that are kaput south-of-the-border; heater hoses and
carb needles in particular. Try them.
Now, you know that smooth black plastic sleeving that was used
to loom wires on 140/164??? Does anyone have a source for this,
other than the boneyard??? And NO--I don't want the slit,
corrugated, teeny-bopper stuff from Poop-Boys.
Furthermore, can any fellow 164ophiles explain to me why
the adjuster link for the power-steering pump is formed in a
dog-leg??? What possible engineering purpose is served???
I recently commissioned Shadetree Design to produce a straight
link. It allows more swing of the pump when changing belts,
thus cancelling removal of the long block-bolt and spacer.
A major improvement!!!
